For the 12/11 meeting, Toastmaster Steven decided to have a meeting without a theme, that’s right Themeless.
Sergeant at Arms Bill Scott shared with us zoom etiquette rules. Quote of the day was:
“The color of springtime is in the flowers; the color of winter is in the imagination.”
Word of the day, presented by Grammarian Petar was:
bodacious, excellent, admirable, or attractive.
Example: “the restaurant serves bodacious grilled lobster”.
Jovica was in charge of timing speakers, impromptu speeches and evaluators.
Our three speakers for the day were:
Joseph presenting stories to demonstrate communication styles in a 5 to 7 minutes speech, where he talked about the main problem of communication being the illusion that it has taken place.
Jamie presenting a 5 to 7 minutes speech titled “Wanderlust for Thoughtful Travel”, inviting us to travel and bring back the greatest souvenir of all, a broader perspective.
Isabella presenting a 5 to 7 minutes speech titled “What I learned from evaluator”, where she shared points to look for when being a speech evaluator.
Impromptu Table Topics Master of the day Saurabh asked interesting questions to elicit 1 to 2 minutes speeches:
– Jovica – imagine you received 1 million dollars, how would you spend it?
– Cris – if you have an option to go to the past or the future what would you choose and why?
– Petar – what’s the most sensible thing you have heard someone saying?
– Steven – what’s a belief that you hold with which many people would disagree?
– Traci – what is number one motivator in your life right now?
Evaluators Sarah, Bill and Paula evaluated our speakers following the sandwich approach: what you did well, areas of improvement, what you did well.
Come join us and listen to interesting speeches in Seattle here at Seattle Sunrise Toastmasters!
Our next meeting is December 18th.
