Box of Chocolates: Seattle Sunrise February 14 Meeting Summary

marti-021415The Northwest Hospital Cafeteria was most likely not the most romantic of venues to spend Valentines Day morning, but it was definitely the place to be if you wanted to be part of yet another outstanding Seattle Sunrise meeting.

Appropriately enough, the theme of the day was “Box of Chocolates” as Andrea, Aleli, Seva and Peter each took the podium to present their speeches.

First up was Andrea, delivering her tenth Competent Communicator speech, “The More the Merrier.” Aleli followed with her fourth Competent Communicator project, “Mysterious Connection Between Sense & Memory.”

With “Ancient Greeks Invented…What!?,” Seva took us all on a historical trek through Ancient Greece, Egypt and Babylonia. And pulling an inspiring speech out of his pocket, Peter rocked the group with “Never Give Up.”

aleli-021415 (1)Katey, Porscha, Nicole, Shen, and Junlei offered evaluations, with Katey walking away with the award for Best Evaluation.

Marti led Table Topics by wrapping questions for the lucky participants around chocolates. Aanya took the ribbon for her impromptu response.

Yours truly was the Toastmaster of the day; Sharon took on the Grammarian role and offered “punctilious” as the word of the day; and Nicole S. worked the stop watch.

Our next meeting will be Saturday February 21, so please join us. And to whet your appetite, don’t forget to visit us on Facebook.
