Spring Cleaning — Meeting of May 19, 2012

Nine members and three guests attended today’s meeting, led by our immediate past president, Dave.  The theme was “spring cleaning”.  Dave revealed that cleaning in his house involves removing massive amounts of dog hair from his furniture, clothes, and carpet (yikes!).

Raymound kicked off the speaking section of the meeting.  He spoke on the topic of personal leadership.  Personal leadership involves taking control of yourself.  In his final speech before moving out of town, Raymound cited a number of sources to support the statements made in his speech. (Competent Communication project 7, Research Your Topic)

Our club president, Ray took the lectern as our second speaker.  He revealed his vision for the club: so many members that we get noise complaints!  Ray suggested the Speechcraft program as a way to achieve this objective. (CC project 9, Persuade with Power)

Tables topics were led by Mary.  Our guest, Sally, won table topics speaking about how she hopes to get her infant daughter to landscape the front yard one day.

Our evaluators of the meeting were Sonja, Nicole, Scott, Amara and Andrew.  It was Sonja’s first outing as general evaluator, and she identified opportunities to make the club meetings more efficient.

At the end of the meeting guests Sally and Dillibe submitted their applications for membership. Yeah!

Our next meeting will be on 6/2.
